Frequently asked questions about DEKA Lisbon
DEKA FIT vs HYROX: what is the difference?
DEKA leans towards strength (sit-ups, box jumps, RAM lunges, dead ball); HYROX leans towards running and endurance (8 km vs 5 km, more sled, 100 wall balls). Both feature 10 indoor zones. DEKA also has the shorter MILE format which HYROX does not offer.
Do I need to be a Spartan athlete to enter?
No. DEKA is run by Spartan but entry is independent. No prior Spartan Race or Trifecta experience is required.
Can I use grip gloves?
Yes, recommended for the Farmer's Carry (Z6) and the Sled (Z9). Thin gloves with silicone palm (CrossFit-style) improve grip on damp kit.
How does the evening DEKA MILE (18:10) work?
Same structure but only 1 mile (1.6 km) of running plus the 10 zones. Ideal if you race twice on same day or if newcomer. Around 30 min.
Can I chase the global Trifecta Hex?
Yes. DEKA FIT + DEKA MILE + DEKA STRONG completed in same calendar year (at any DEKA city worldwide) earns the Trifecta Hex medal. In Lisbon 2026 you can race FIT (morning) and MILE (evening) on same day.
